Jovan Bliznakovski is Associate Professor in Comparative Politics at the Institute for Sociological, Political and Juridical Research (ISPJR), Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, where he has been working since 2019. He holds a PhD in Political Studies from the University of Milan, Italy, and an MSc from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He completed his undergraduate studies in Political Science at the Iustinianus Primus Faculty of Law, UKIM.
His research focuses on party–voter linkages in post-communist Europe, with particular emphasis on political clientelism, populism, and ethnic mobilization, and their relationship with programmatic politics. He has contributed to leading international research projects — the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems (CSES), the Democratic Accountability and Linkages Project (DALP), and the European Social Survey (ESS). He currently serves as Head of MA Studies in Political Science at ISPJR and teaches courses in Comparative Politics and Research Methodology at the second and third cycle level. Previously, he served as Deputy Director of ISPJR (2022–2025) and Programme Director at the Institute for Democracy “Societas Civilis” Skopje (2014–2016).
