Second Cycle Studies (Master program) in Communications

This study focuses on the key to social integration—and human survival: communication. In the 21st century, where communication, both verbal and nonverbal, is central to everything we do, the world has become a global community. However, this also presents a significant challenge in integrating people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. The aim of this postgraduate studies is to gain knowledge about interpersonal and mass communication, including the functions, elements, and processes involved. It also covers verbal and nonverbal behaviors, models of social behavior, and strategies for building mutual trust in communication. Additionally, it explores conflict resolution, leadership, team building, and more effective communication through technology, as well as how to monitor mass media and navigate the use of cyberspace.

Postgraduate studies in communications are designed to encompass the analysis and theory of the dynamics of the entire communication process in modern society. The methodological approach aims to apply an integrated and interdisciplinary framework, drawing on both classical and modern methods of the social sciences. In addition to studying and applying broader areas of communication and socio-political theory, the goal of these studies is to foster the development of various approaches for the powerful analysis of media systems and media messages.

The program addresses the socio-cultural context in which communication occurs, exploring the cultural and ideological implications of these processes, as well as the impact of communication and media technologies in a multimedia environment. While the program also includes some study of interpersonal communication, its primary focus is on mass communication. Theoretical principles and examples of analysis are, when possible, applied to the contemporary reality of Macedonian society, while still placing them within a broader European and global context.

Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded the title of Master of Science in Communications, with the opportunity for employment in various fields, such as public relations, education, management, and other administrative activities. These studies are intended for candidates aspiring to work (or already employed) in the media and cultural industries—particularly in television, radio, print, publishing, as well as in education and training.
