European Social Survey 10th Wave

The European Social Survey (ESS) is an international research project that examines the values and attitudes of citizens on a wide range of topics relevant to contemporary European societies. Conducted biennially since 2002, the survey includes over 35 European countries. This year, for the first time, the survey is being conducted in the Republic of North Macedonia, funded by the Ministry of Education and Science.

The ESS significantly contributes to European social science by introducing rigorous methodologies and high standards throughout the extensive process of preparation and implementation, ensuring continuous scientific validity. This approach enhances the capabilities of domestic research teams and provides credible data for policymakers.

The ESS holds the highest European research status, recognized by European institutions, including the European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC). The survey’s data is used not only for academic purposes but also by European institutions such as the European Commission and the European Parliament, as well as by national institutions of participating countries.

The 10th wave of the ESS in North Macedonia is being conducted by the Institute for Sociological, Political, and Juridical Research. To ensure the successful execution of this complex task, the national team consists of experienced researchers. Additionally, the ESS has established a national network in North Macedonia, including representatives from public and private universities that focus on social sciences.

The national coordinator for the project is Prof. Dr. Aneta Cekić from the Institute for Sociological, Political, and Juridical Research.
