
Prof. Dr. Goran Janev has been employed at ISPJR since December 1995. In 1994, he graduated in Ethnology from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, UKIM. He obtained his Master’s degree in Sociology at ISPJR, UKIM in 1998. He completed a postgraduate stay in Social Anthropology at the University of Oxford during 1998/99. Janev was a Teaching Assistant in Macedonian Studies at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University College London, during the 2003/04 academic year. He obtained his PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Oxford in 2006. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity from 2008 to 2011.
He currently works as a Full Professor in Social Anthropology, with research interests in Political Anthropology, Urban Anthropology, Globalization, and Public Spaces. He is a member of the European Association of Social Anthropologists, the International Association of Folklorists and Ethnologists, and the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences.
